Formation and Release
How are exosomes formed and released? Exosomes are formed by inward budding of the limiiting membrane of endocytic compartments, leading to the formation of vesicle-containing endosomes, known as multivesicular bodies (MVBs). Fusion of the MVB with the plasma membrane leads to the release of exosomes from a given cell.
